Course Overview

Ambulation is defined as walking, moving from place to place. Ambulation allows a patient to be independent. Unfortunately, the ability to ambulate can diminish as we age or from an illness or an injury, and this has many serious consequences. In this course you will learn how to assist a patient with ambulation.

At the end of this course, you will learn about:

• Applying protective devices (e.g. vest or belt)
• Assisting a patient to sit up
• Assisting a patient in use of a crutch, cane, or walker
• Patient safety measures
• Assisting a patient with care and use of prosthetic/orthotic devices
